GOOD JOB APPLE!!! Thank You to Apple for Fixing This: Why does Apple (and others) treat call blocking like some technological marvel?

This bitching session is no longer relevant as Apple has included the feature in the latest version of iOS.  GOOD JOB!  THANK YOU APPLE!

There's really not much more to it than that.  #Verizon will let you block 5 numbers FREE OF CHARGE!  WOW! WHAT A GENEROUS GIFT!  More than THAT though, is gonna cost ya.  I guess after five numbers they have to hire another person to sit there and monitor your incoming caller i.d.'s to make sure it's not on your block list.  And Apple? Apparently it's just too difficult to offer such a complex feature as checking caller i.d.'s against a list before activating the ringer or message notification.

There is a myth about some magical device created centuries ago, I think it was called an envy two? or something like that?  It had these amazing, free programs you could acquire from some mysterious place.  I've heard one was called "Mr. Number" You could block an unlimited number of phone numbers, even whole types of numbers like 888-, 866-, unknown, and the like.  And somehow they achieved it without much difficulty? without even charging you?  But alas... along with real keyboards, arrow keys, and pyramid building, such advanced abilities seem lost forever...

Heck, #Apple seems to have found a way to even block app developers from offering the feature.  So I put to you:
WHY IS SUCH A SIMPLE AND USEFUL FEATURE TREATED AS IF IT WERE INTERSTELLAR SPACE TRAVEL?
