EricAnthem: You kow those sayings that people just pass along by word of mouth, never discussing what they actually mean or even what the correct words are? e.g. "For all intensive purposes." I say the nay. The phrase is "For all intents and purposes."
Anyway, I'm smart and well educated and STILL, I missed one of these for 43 years...
"Oh, she was involved in numerous, sorted affairs..." that's what I thought it was - sorted. Turns out the word is "Sordid". Wow. I missed that one completely. Anyway, that's why you need to read. It teaches you how to spell and pronounce words properly, and it increases your vocabulary so you can tell people what to do more specifically.l
